The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform supervisory duties and manage projects of varying size, scope, and impact to agency operations to include serving as the project leader; planning, organizing, and directing project activities; resolving design conflicts; data administration; resource allocation; contract negotiation; timeline development; critical path tracking; justifying the need for additional resources; and coordination with other work units within and outside the organization as assigned. Non-supervisory positions must spend the preponderance of their time performing the most advanced professional work in project management and oversight or technology planning and consultation.
The Department of Administration, Division of Enterprise IT Services (EITS) is recruiting for an IT Professional 4. This position is geographically located in Carson City, NV. The incumbent will analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify in-house, vendor created, and for purchase (COTS) applications; perform advanced journey level application developer duties including full SDLC processes, maintenance, and application enhancements; ensure conformance to the EITS Division's application development standards; train and mentor application development staff; serve as project leader when necessary; and function as a primary contact in the absence of their management to include overseeing projects of limited scope and coordinating activities with other groups; perform software upgrades, system upgrades, user creation, role establishment, and fiscal and calendar year application updates. Incumbent may perform duties in one or more IT specialization area depending on the needs of the agency, however this position primarily supports and develops in a DotNet / Object Oriented / Multi-Tier environment - languages include VB.NET / C# / PLSQL / T-SQL / Java / Web Methods and associated Windows operating systems (in support of these efforts.) ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, two years of which were at the advanced journey level or in a supervisory or project management capacity; OR bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science,management information systems, or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which may include systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, relevant to the duties of the position, two years of which were at the journey level in information security; OR two years of relevant experience as an IT Professional III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
    Applicants must be willing to work standby and carry the standby cellular phone for evening and weekend system troubleshooting.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel 25% of the time is required.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience working within the Software Development Life Cycle is required.
    Experience performing application software problem analysis and solution design is required.
The Examination
Application Evaluation Exam
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

2) Do you have experience as an administrator of COTS products (such as TSP) and as an administrator of an application development environment (such as SAG webMethods environment)? Please describe.
