The Position
Registered Nurses provide general or specialized professional nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position manages a nursing neighborhood within the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City. Responsibilities include coordinating resident care in the assigned neighborhood in accordance with regulatory requirements; participating in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings and resident/family care conferences; participating in Quality Assurance; monitoring restraints; attending meetings; staffing budgeted hours; assisting and relieving other nurse managers; acting as house supervisor at times, as needed; investigating complaints; participating in the interviewing and orientation processes; teaching in services and skill fairs; supervising and evaluating the performance of assigned staff as well as assigning and reviewing work. This is a 24-hour facility therefore, applicants may be required to work variable hours. This position is in Boulder City.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and three years of professional nursing experience, one year of which included providing patient care in a skilled nursing facility (e.g., convalescent or nursing home) or ensuring regulatory compliance of skilled nursing facilities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
