Health Program Specialists plan, develop, implement and evaluate health services and activities; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; provide technical information regarding specialized health related conditions; and participate and provide support to various committees, advisory boards and other work groups.
This Health Program Specialist I position serves as the Tobacco Cessation Coordinator within the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (CDPHP) Section in the Bureau of Child, Family and Community Wellness, Division of Public and Behavioral Health located in Carson City, Nevada. The purpose of the position is to oversee and coordinate tobacco cessation services for the Tobacco Control Program (TCP). Responsibilities include grant and contract management, oversight of the state quitline for statewide tobacco cessation services, improve health systems, conduct outreach activities, and fiscal monitoring to comply with State and federal requirements. The position will build and maintain strategic partnerships, perform grant writing, reporting, programmatic implementation/oversight, budget development, and fiscal monitoring for the TCP. The position will monitor and provide technical assistance to subrecipients and vendors to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and funding guidelines. The Tobacco Cessation Coordinator will report on the burden of tobacco in the state, and outcomes and data specific to the state quitline.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health science, behavioral science or closely related field applicable to the program area and two years of health-related experience which included at least two of the following areas: researching, collecting and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols and procedures; providing health education services to target groups or the general public; evaluating program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes to meet agency, federal or other standards and guidelines; providing prevention, identification or treatment services to individuals or populations who have been diagnosed or are at risk of contracting life and health threatening diseases and/or conditions; and/or investigation and prevention of communicable or chronic diseases; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
