The Position
Manufactured Housing Inspectors are responsible for the Statewide inspection of manufactured homes, commercial coaches, mobile homes, mobile home parks and other manufactured buildings upon installation; the review of construction plans and specifications for manufactured buildings; the inspection and certification of the facilities, production and quality control processes of manufactured building manufacturers; the enforcement of code and regulatory compliance for projects involving manufactured structures; and the investigation of complaints against manufactured housing dealers, manufacturers, servicepersons and mobile home parks.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This the Department of Business & Industry, Housing Division has an opening for Manufactured Housing Inspector I position in Carson City. The Manufactured Housing Inspector I will report to the Inspector III, located in Las Vegas. The position duties include performing field inspections, review and approval of construction and project plans, creating and maintaining reports related to inspection activities, assisting in the investigation of complaints against licensees, contributing to the resolution of abatement complaints, various projects related to inspection activities, manage the control of certification labels and certificates, act as a liaison between the Division and contracted inspectors, and perform other duties as assigned by Division management. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or trade school in the building trades, fire science, or closely related field; OR two years of experience as a general construction contractor, a plans examiner or building inspector in a local government entity, or a quality assurance inspector in a manufactured housing plant; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
