Under administrative direction, Tax Managers oversee the staff, activities and operations of a geographical
region or functional area within the Department of Taxation including establishing procedures, supervising
subordinate supervisors and recommending and implementing the budget. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
The Department of Taxation is recruiting for a Tax Manager in their Carson City office. The Tax Manager over the Excise Tax Division is responsible for overseeing staff, activities and operations; ensures compliance with the Master Settlement Agreement through enforcement measures, participation in national conferences and keeping well-informed of trends within the industry; and is responsible for the activities of the Department's call center and the audit program for the tax abatements. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, finance or related field and five years of professional level experience in accounting, auditing and/or tax administration programs involving interpretation and application of statutory provisions, including three years of supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%.
