Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This position works within the Project Management Office in the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy, Carson City, NV and will have responsibility for management of complex IT projects, serving as a project leader/manager. The role will include project planning, organizing, directing activities, quality assurance, and project quality oversight of external vendors. Projects may include support of systems involving the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), Health Information Technology (HIT), internal projects and working with other state agencies and interrelated systems.
Typical duties include: IT project management; resolving design conflicts; data administration; conduct research; gather system and business requirements; tracking project costs; resource allocation; creating professional documents; contract engagement; providing business support to IT projects for the agency overall. This role will work closely with federal, other State agencies and vendors in support of the agency and its projects. May be required to assist with analyzing impacts of federal/State requirements on the MMIS system or HIT initiatives, writing a variety of documents that include, but not limited to, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), contracts, contract amendments, and related funding documents (e.g. Technology Investment Requests (TIRs) and Advanced Planning Documents (APD)). Incumbent will lead and/or participate in various work groups and may be required to give presentations and/or travel on occasion in order to meet the needs of an assignment. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
