The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Department of Taxation is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, committed, and technology savvy IT Technician VI to lead and supervise the Helpdesk team at Carson City location. The IT division works cohesively and collaboratively to provide digital solutions to the department. The regular business hours for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm and on-call shift (5:00pm - 9:00 pm) 20-25% of the year.
Incumbent provides work direction, mentoring and training to IT Technicians; provides evaluation to their technical subordinates; and leads IT operations such as troubleshooting, resolving and providing solutions to end users' desktops, laptops, mobile devices and network related issues. Incumbent supervises and participates in the development of projects that pertain to the Help Desk and supervises the actions of project participants. This position is responsible to provide customer support and user management for Taxation's enterprise applications and monitors and notifies major web and client/server applications' performance and availability. Incumbent must ensure efficient Help Desk workflow and ensure service level agreement (SLA) goals are met; assists in the development and implementation of goals, standards, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Help Desk; and works closely with Information Security Officer to implement any policies and procedures changes relates to end user hardware. Incumbent will collaborate with other teams such as server/network operations team, Database management team, application development team, and management analyst team in planning and implementation phases of projects. Incumbent assists upper management in recommending efficient business workflow processes, procurement of relevant technology, IT budget preparation, and technical solution recommendations. This position requires valid driver's license.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
