Landscape Architects perform professional landscape architecture involving the design, planning and coordination of capital improvement projects and major renovations.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This position is located in Carson City within the Landscape Architecture Section of the Roadway Design Division at the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). The incumbent will perform landscape architecture for transportation construction and capital improvement projects; designs, plans, and coordinates landscape architecture for Transportation construction and capital improvements including contract administration, cost estimating, field and construction submittal reviews, inspection and compliance to laws, regulations and specification and coordination with other public and private agencies. In addition, the incumbent will be involved in the management of consultants, including the solicitation and selection, negotiation for scope of work and time frames and cost. This announcement will be used to underfill a Landscape Architect and incumbents may progress to the next level upon meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with approval of the appointing authority. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in landscape architecture and two years of professional landscape architectural experience under the direct supervision of a holder of a certificate of registration. The required experience must have included drafting, design, planning and coordination of landscape architectural projects such as campgrounds, roadside rest areas, roadside right-of-way beautification, boat ramps and docks, picnic areas, group use areas, trails or paths, trail heads, visitor centers and the restoration and preservation of natural and cultural resources; OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction technology or closely related field and three years of experience as described above; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

This position requires a 25% statewide travel requirement. |
