Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Traffic Operations Division, Carson City. Incumbent is responsible for the development and design of signing plans and details for inclusion into contract documents for construction projects; reviewing roadway design, consultant, and permit application generated plans and details related to signing, markings, and traffic control for compliance with department standards; and developing, designing, and laying out of special sign details. Duties also include attending meetings, conferences, and field reviews; performing sign and pavement marking inventories; performing tests and collecting data for retroreflectivity requirements on signs and pavement markings; and compiling and reviewing Transportation Management Plans. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL A STAFF II POSITION. INCUMBENT MAY PROGRESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL UPON MEETING THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE, AND APPROVAL OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
