The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Admin Assistant IV is the main point of contact at the reception desk and is responsible for answering and routing calls to proper staff or agencies. The incumbent maintains daily visitor logs; operates computer systems; interacts with the legal community, numerous state agencies, and the general public; is responsible for recording and preparing agency bank deposits and other various invoices; responsible for the processing of record retention requests, returns, and invoicing; oversees the Constituent Services Unit (CSU) at reception; will research, investigate and respond to complaints, public inquiries, and issues raised by constituents; provides appropriate information on all routine, non-legal questions; and enters constituent contacts for telephone calls and correspondence into ProLaw correctly, following contact protocols set by the office. Additional constituent responsibilities include responding to incoming constituent emails and tasks associated with electronically filed complaints; responding to and signing off on constituent complaint response letters within 10 business days of receipt; providing admin support to agency leadership as well as other staff as necessary; and performing backup duties to several vital reception functions, including mail handling, conference room scheduling and setup, building and grounds, and travel coordination. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
