Developmental Specialists provide individual and group clinical, developmental and support services for individuals of all ages who have, or who may be at risk for, developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or related conditions, and social, emotional, and/or behavioral disorders.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Desert Regional Center in Mesquite, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
Developmental Specialists perform the role of coordinator for all services and supports pertaining to those persons with a developmental disability residing in the Mesquite and greater Mesquite region. These services are provided across the lifespan and interface with those services that are provided by other system partners. Typical supports include case management to individuals and families, development and monitoring of person-centered plans, assessment of social service and support needs, oversight of contracted provider supports in the local community, review of fiscal services contracted and billing of targeted case management notes into the regional center database. This position role includes outreach to current and new service users and system partners to identify any developmentally disabled populations not currently receiving regional center services.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, special education, human growth and development, psychology, counseling, social work or a closely related field and two years of professional experience providing developmental, special education, intervention or treatment-oriented services for individuals who have or may be at risk for developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or related conditions; OR one year of experience as a Developmental Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education at or above a bachelor's degree and experience as described above. |
