The Position
Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds section, located in Carson City and reports directly to the Facility Manager. This position also supports the Las Vegas Buildings and Ground Section. Statewide travel in support of the Las Vegas Buildings and Grounds operations is required. Electricians perform skilled electrical work to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment. Incumbent must possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Electricians apply logical and systematic problem-solving skills when responding to Work Orders, performing and/or implementing preventive maintenance work and estimating cost of repairs & new construction. Incumbent must be able to read, correct and maintain blue prints. The incumbent must be able to supervise and work with inmate workers and must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for standby emergency status and in support of day-to-day operations.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
