Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Located within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (Medicaid), Program Research and Development Unit, this position will underfill for a Social Services Program 2 and will auto progress to the next level in the series upon meeting the minimum qualifications and upon appointing authority approval. This position assists with the responsibilities of the Quality Assurance and Improvement program and projects for Home and Community Based Services and other Unit projects.
The purpose of the position is to ensure that all federal and state quality requirements are met, that health, safety and welfare of Medicaid recipients are ensured, to ensure or improve the quality of log-term support systems, and that quality assurance activities result in collaborative, data driven system changes. The duties of this position require extensive professional work product and preparation of detailed reports. The position is located in Carson City, with occasional travel required. Heavy use of the Microsoft family of desktop software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) is necessary to fulfill the positions requirements.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of paraprofessional experience which included providing social services, medical assistance programs services, or health care services to the public and required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
