The Position
Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) currently has an HVACR Specialist II position available. Incumbent will perform preventive maintenance and repair work for the commercial HVACR systems in the seven buildings of the SNAMHS campus. This involves checking with operating or area personnel for system deficiencies and checking the condition of drive belts and making repairs as necessary as well as cleaning coils, evaporator drain pans and blowers. Other duties include HVACR general repairs, electrical repairs, plumbing and thermal comfort, and other general repairs. The position may require working on rooftop equipment during peak seasonal weather conditions and lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent and prolonged stretching and reaching from ladders may also be required. This is a full-time position; must be able to work weekends. Incumbent will be working an innovative-variable work schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment; OR one year of experience as a HVACR Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Journey level experience is gained after the completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or after four years of skilled work in a trade under the supervision of a journey level trades worker.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
    This position requires the incumbent to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment.
