Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and manage the activities, staff and functions necessary to provide social services in an assigned region or district office and its satellites.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This Social Services Manager 2 position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in the Community Based Care Unit in Las Vegas. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, and friendly co-workers. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
The Community Based Care unit is comprised of five (5) social model programs which include the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver for the Frail Elderly, the HCBS Waiver for Persons with Physical Disabilities, the Community Options Program for the Elderly, the Personal Assistance Services program, and the Homemaker program. The incumbent would be responsible for the management of the Community Based Care unit located in Las Vegas which oversees the majority of Southern Nevada. This position is responsible for the oversight of approximately 90 staff which include Administrative Assistants, Social Workers, Health Care Coordinators, and Social Worker Supervisors. This position will assist with developing and updating policies and procedures to ensure State and Federal rules are followed and enforced. Additionally, this position will participate in the quality oversight and corrective action initiatives by collaborating with other DHHS agencies and the Northern Social Services Manger II. This position will monitor program expenditures such as travel, equipment, cell phones, state vehicles; review and analyze data; monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; and identify trends and make recommendations for improved processes. The incumbent would represent the Division in the community, serve on committees as directed, and identify and develop resources necessary to meet clients' needs. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public administration or related field and two years of supervisory experience in the implementation of social services programs; interpretation and application of complex federal regulations; and writing program policies, procedures, and reports; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
