The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
The incumbent performs application IT support to the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) at four satellite locations in Carson City, Las Vegas, Reno, and Elko. This position is an underfill for an IT Professional 3 and will auto progress to the next level in the series upon meeting the minimum qualifications and upon appointing authority approval. This Application Support specialist will assist the Division of Healthcare Financing and Policies Information Security Officer (ISO) position and act as a backup as needed.
Support and technical assistance responsibilities include: responding to software related issues on-site and at remote locations; database management; security; disaster recovery; and COTS Application maintenance and configuration. Specific duties include: application support for all internally developed and COTS applications; assisting with user compliance and security polices; developing security policies, security awareness campaigns and assisting with enforcing the Divisions HIPAA security rules; troubleshoots and helps resolve application connectivity issues; responsible for development and implementation of DocuSign flows and forms; and assisting with background checks and criminal history searches for contract vendors and their employees. Incumbent will serve as the liaison with the State Enterprise IT services as well as with other IT teams within DHCFP as needed. The incumbent must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong logical and analytical skills are necessary to assess and resolve issues. The incumbent must have the ability to work with users at their understanding level and display strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills. Statewide travel and the possession of a valid driver's license are requirements of the position. Working evenings, weekends, or holidays may be required occasionally.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Travel up to 25% of the time is required.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays may be required.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
