The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents administer one or more programs or a major component of a large, complex program which affects a more targeted number of customers or clients; revise, recommend, and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements.
This position will be located in either Las Vegas or Carson City depending on the candidate chosen. The incumbent will work directly with medical consultant vendors, bureau staff, local medical community resources, various medical-oriented boards and professional organizations to recruit and maintain medical panel members to provide medical examinations as needed for applicants of the Bureau. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing medical reports from established medical vendors for appropriateness and completeness; providing feedback to vendors regarding timeliness and content; conducting regular reviews of medical panelists to assure they are in compliance with policy and practices for examinations, testing, reporting and licensing requirements; establishing vendor scheduling calendars based on panelist requests; investigating complaints of vendor panelists; completing regular reviews and maintenance of bureau vendor file; updating, revising, and addressesing discrepancies within vendor files with panel members; conducting applicant surveys and conducting site visits according to policy requirements; providing outreach and education to the community regarding specific needs for medical evidence in regard to disability claims; and working to develop effective responses to requests for evidence with decreased processing times, which includes encouraging the submission of electronic medical records. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment and one year of professional experience in planning, coordinating and administering a program which included interpretation of laws and regulations; development of program policy and procedures; development and implementation of program performance standards and objectives for providing services; and development and implementation of eligibility requirements; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items
