The Position
Within the Budget Division of the Governor's Finance Office, Executive Branch Budget Officers develop, analyze and make recommendations on biennial budgets and expenditures for all executive budgets; analyze agency staffing ratios and historical data in relation to population growth, economic conditions, national trends and standards and other pertinent information; make evaluative judgments regarding the efficiency of agency operations, effectiveness in reaching established goals and objectives, organizational structure, and legislative intent; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
This recruitment is offered with The Governor's Budget Office of Finance in Carson City. Budget Officers prepare and implement budgets for one or more agencies; develop expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; and analyze budget requests and adjustments. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Job duties for this position include the preparation and implementation of budgets, the review and analysis of budget requests and adjustments as well as ensuring the compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations. Additionally, the incumbent assists agencies in developing budget requests, monitors assigned budget accounts, and controls/oversees budgets to ensure compliance. This position requires extensive overtime from September 1 through January 31 every other year for the Governor Recommends Budget and may be subject to overtime throughout the remainder of 2019. This position is subject to Flexible/Rotating Shifts, including nights/weekends and holidays and has a travel requirement of up to 25%. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and five years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst III in Nevada State service; OR one year of experience as an Executive Branch Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
