The Position
DPS Officers perform a variety of law enforcement and public safety functions within the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The Nevada Department of Public Safety, Parole and Probation Division (P&P) is recruiting to fill a DPS Officer II position located in Pahrump. This recruitment is intended for promotional candidates only. ***A transfer opportunity for current DPS Officer IIs is running concurrently and interested employees can communicate their interest through this avenue.*** The Parole and Probation Division provides for the supervision of parolees and probationers throughout the state. Officers are responsible for monitoring offender activity, enforcing Court and Parole Board orders and special conditions, and performing a wide range of law enforcement functions while ensuring the protection of civil rights and civil liberties.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation as a Category I Peace Officer from a Nevada P.O.S.T. approved law enforcement academy and one year of law enforcement or experience in a police or fire agency; OR one year of experience as a DPS Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    Statewide travel is required.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
