Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position, under the direction of the Industrial Hygiene Supervisor (IHS), will review and process all applications for Photovoltaic and Asbestos licenses and verify for accuracy; review Asbestos Project Notifications and verify that contractors and final clearance monitors are licensed and fees are appropriate for the size of the project; evaluate emergency notifications and approve or reject immediate start-up of emergency projects; assist IHS in targeting significant asbestos projects for inspections, per NRS 618.830; assist other Administrative Assistant 3 in supervisory duties and share required tasks such as processing complaint/referrals, citations and amended citations, and completing and closing out case files; respond to all requests for information from employers, employees and general public in adherence with State, Department and Division policies and directives; exhibit professional and respectful behavior toward staff and the public, including exhibiting a positive attitude and maintaining a cooperative and productive relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates; adjust to new work requirements and diligently pursue work assignments; comply with Business and Industry and Division of Industrial Relations policies and procedures; and maintain a professional demeanor while representing the Department. Completed work products are reviewed periodically by the supervisor or the users within or outside the agency. Positions at this level may supervise other Administrative Assistants. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
