Health Program Specialists plan, develop, implement and evaluate health services and activities; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; provide technical information regarding specialized health related conditions; and participate and provide support to various committees, advisory boards and other work groups.
This recruitment is for a Health Program Specialist I position within the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Section located in Carson City in the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH), Bureau of Child, Family, and Community Wellness. The position is responsible for providing overall management of the Maternal and Infant Program of the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program. This position provides support for the Title V MCH Block Grant and 5-year needs assessment, and also provides technical assistance and consultation in the areas of: program administration, policy interpretation, and health education. This position develops, implements, and evaluates objectives, protocols, and measures for MCH and ensures maternal and infant program activities are operated in compliance with federal and state rules and regulations, Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, and Bureau policies and procedures. In addition to data collection, presentations on maternal and infant health, working with stakeholders, and preparing reports, this position prepares, justifies, and monitors fiscal documents and sub awardee spend down; writes grant applications; and submits reports in a timely manner.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health science, behavioral science or closely related field applicable to the program area and two years of health-related experience which included at least two of the following areas: researching, collecting and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols and procedures; providing health education services to target groups or the general public; evaluating program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes to meet agency, federal or other standards and guidelines; providing prevention, identification or treatment services to individuals or populations who have been diagnosed or are at risk of contracting life and health threatening diseases and/or conditions; and/or investigation and prevention of communicable or chronic diseases; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
