Under general direction, Speech Pathologists provide specialized therapeutic services involving the measurement, testing, identification, diagnosis, prediction, treatment, case management, counseling, coaching and supporting of individuals with communication needs and disorders; deficiencies in sensory, perceptual, motor, cognitive and social skills necessary for communication; and sensorimotor dysfunctions of the mouth, pharynx and larynx.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Nevada Early Intervention Services (NEIS) in Reno, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This Speech and Language Pathologist administers eligibility speech and language evaluations and provides child/family centered speech and language and communication services in children's homes, child care facilities, playgroups, and other community settings for children with disabilities and developmental delays who are under the age of three residing in Washoe. Speech and language intervention is a required service in accordance with the federal regulations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and are provided on the child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

Applicants must possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association including completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). |

Some positions require licensure as a speech pathologist by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
|
Current license as a speech and language pathologist by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology is required. |

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
