The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Information Technology in Carson City or Reno, NV, depending on the most qualified candidate and the needs of the agency. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This position reports to the IT Manager 1 of network infrastructure for ADSD and will be required to install and maintain servers, switches, and handle division-wide centralized desktop security patching. This will entail basic day-to-day Active Directory maintenance (object maintenance) to complex activities (Sites and Services, DNS Maintenance). For virtualization the incumbent will need to know how to build a host system and create guests to service various system engineering and application activities. The preferred candidate will also have exposure to Office 365. The incumbent will be required to work their own project load as assigned by IT management. This position requires good communication skills and the incumbent must be able to work remotely with a team located in Las Vegas. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Travel up to 25% of the time is required.
    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Advanced experience with Active Directory is required.
    Experience installing and maintaining network servers using virtualization is requried.
