The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 1 (AA1) position located in Fallon, NV. The AA1 plays a key role in the delivery of outstanding professional customer service to the entire staff of DWSS, customers and community partners. This position is responsible for a wide range of general administrative support functions including but not limited to word processing, general filing and records maintenance, scheduling appointments, and answering/screening/directing telephone calls. The successful candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude who enjoys a variety of different tasks with changing priorities. The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following desired strengths: Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, rules, and instructions; strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple and competing tasks and productively manage time; ability to work efficiently under pressure and produce quality work when there are numerous interruptions throughout the day; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others, work independently as well as part of a team, and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and proficient in using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook). *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
