The Position
Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Incumbents work in a student internship capacity as temporary employees in a three-month position, with the Nevada Department of Transportation. Vacancies are located in Reno, Carson City, and Las Vegas. This recruitment is for students at the undergraduate level. Program duration is from May 20, 2019, through August 16, 2019. The emphasis of the summer internship program is civil engineering. However, there may be openings for students from other disciplines, such as environmental, traffic engineering, biology, archaeology, surveying, architecture, urban/city planning, cartography, landscape architecture, GIS, or a closely related field. Work assignments will vary as an intern progresses in class standing. Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.
Special Notes
    Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
    Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

    Applicants must provide a copy of transcripts showing current enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university. Failure to attach your transcripts at time of submittal will result in the denial of your application.

The Examination
Application Evaluation Exam
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
