The Position
Positions in this series provide care, training, and treatment to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24-hour/7-day a week treatment home setting.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Part Time Treatment Home Provider (THP) to be located in Reno, NV. The Family Learning Homes serve (FLH) children between 6 & 17 years of age. Youth served by FLH are designated as Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and have experienced multiple failed placements. Youth placed with FLH exhibit significant behavioral challenges including physical and verbal aggression, non-compliance, challenges to authority figures, school problems (academic and behavioral), peer and social difficulties, and family issues. THP's implement therapeutic interventions with youth and provide individual and group Basic Skills Training and Psychosocial Rehab Skills. THP's work with youth's families and provide parent training. THP's act as liaisons with schools and other providers. THP's are responsible for completing case management services with assigned youth including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. THP's take the role of lead to be responsible for the home and youth care when a supervisor is not on duty. THP's possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency in the area of children's emotional and behavioral mental health sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. THP's are expected, with training, to demonstrate competency in managing clients during times of crisis and ensure the safety of all clients and staff using the Crisis Prevention and Response Training. THP's administer clients' prescribed medications according to policy. THP's provide a safe, clean, healthy home-like environment in compliance with Federal and State standards.
This is a part time position (20.24 hours) that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. Work on evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays is required. Must be able to provide up to full time (40 hours) and potentially overtime coverage for vacant positions and other employees' leave. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. In addition, FLH is a licensed facility which requires all of its employees to be cleared through the Department of Family Service?s Licensing Department, which includes a separate FBI background check. Must have a valid Nevada driver's license and pass a drug screening. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, child development, psychology, counseling, social work, or closely related field and one year of experience in the care, training, and/or treatment of children or adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances; OR three years of experience in the care, training, and/or treatment of children or adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a residential treatment home or psychiatric hospital; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Must be able to pass Department of Family Services Specialized Foster Care Agency Staff clearance process.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
