The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This is an IT Professional I underfill for an IT Professional II. There will be training in performing the duties mentioned. This position serves as the sole, non-EITS support for the Administrative group of the State Public Works Division, including 100+ employees. This position is located in Carson City, and is supervised by the Management Analyst IV. The incumbent provides support to various sections of the division, including technical programming to aid in project management of CIP program, procurement of computer and software equipment as needed, and administration of technology section of agency budget. Responsible for all technical decisions involved in creating specialized programs for agency use. This position also supervises the Audiovisual Technician to provide additional support and backup to programs. *****THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and one year of IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR one year of experience as an IT Professional Trainee in Nevada State service; OR three years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    This position has a 25% travel requirement.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
