JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to mentally and/or physically ill or disabled individuals, who have been court ordered to undergo competency restoration in an institution or outpatient setting. This position will perform quality assurance/performance improvement (QAPI) activities for Stein Forensic Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada. Being assigned to the QAPI Department, the incumbent will participate in evaluation, design and implementation of department activities, assist in the collection of data to evaluate services, summarize findings and prepare recommendations for improvement, assist in the coordination of agency efforts to achieve and maintain licensure and accreditation. The incumbent will also assist with coordinating, writing and organizing information incorporated into official corrective action plans submitted by the agency in response to survey or statement of deficiencies and findings, and participate in the organizational patient safety program. The incumbent will help ensure compliance with CMS standards, as well as established laws, regulations and Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) policies. This is a 19-hour part-time position, with negotiable work days and hours.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.
Out of state applicants must have a temporary license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment and must obtain permanent licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing as a condition of continuing employment.

CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
