The Position
Within the Budget Division of the Governor's Finance Office, Executive Branch Budget Officers develop, analyze and make recommendations on biennial budgets and expenditures for all executive budgets; analyze agency staffing ratios and historical data in relation to population growth, economic conditions, national trends and standards and other pertinent information; make evaluative judgments regarding the efficiency of agency operations, effectiveness in reaching established goals and objectives, organizational structure, and legislative intent; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position works within the Governor's Finance Office and is located in Carson City, NV. Job duties for Executive Branch Budget Officer 2 include the preparation and implementation of budgets, the review and analysis of budget requests and adjustments as well as ensuring the compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations. Additionally, the incumbent assists agencies in developing budget requests, monitors assigned budget accounts, and controls/oversees budgets to ensure compliance. Please note that this position is subject to Flexible/Rotating Shifts, requires extensive overtime from September 1st through January 31st every other year to prepare the Governor Recommends Budget, and may be subject to overtime throughout the rest of the year.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and six years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to an Executive Budget Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
The Examination
EXECUTIVE BRANCH BUDGET OFFICER 2 (07.634) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question.
