The Position
Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center. Incumbents perform basic plumbing, carpentry, interior/exterior painting, electrical, welding/equipment maintenance functions. Functions include, but are not limited to, cutting pipes; assembling and joining plastic/metal pipes/fittings; installing and repairing valves/fixtures; modifying plumbing systems/fixtures; patching roofs; removing walls; framing/fastening sheetrock; installing doors; building forms/pouring concrete; building shelves; repairing furniture; replacing floor tiles; installing/repairing locks; exterior painting; taping/texturing sheetrock; setting up scaffolding; cutting and installing conduit; pulling wire through the conduit; cutting and connecting wires to fixtures/switches/outlets/fixtures and power equipment; testing circuits; maintaining and repairing parking lot lights; performing preventative maintenance to equipment and vehicles by replacing worn or damaged parts; welding gates; installing ductwork; repairing boilers, oil/gas furnaces; HVAC cleaning of boilers; adding refrigerant to AC systems; replacing fuses, air handler motors and thermostats. Incumbents function as a lead worker for inmate crews on a regular basis and provide input as to their performance. Incumbents are responsible for maintaining security procedures which include securing the work area from unauthorized inmates and accountability for assigned inmates, staff, tools and equipment. **Please ensure your application reflects two years of building, grounds and equipment maintenance full time equivalent (FTE) experience in performing semi-skilled building/grounds and equipment maintenance work. ** *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Two years of building, grounds and equipment maintenance experience in performing semi-skilled building/grounds and equipment maintenance work; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid Class C Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
