Seasonal Firefighters assist in wildland and structural fire suppression, fire prevention and education, medical and hazardous materials emergencies, presuppression, equipment and facility maintenance, and forestry and fire law enforcement activities.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The following qualifications are required and MUST be attached to your application at time of submittal: L-280, S-211, S-212, S-230, S-260, S-270, S-290 and be qualified on your Red Card as an NWCG Incident Commander Type V and Engine Boss. Applicants must also hold a Nevada Class B Driver's License. Submit certifications, completed task books, Red Card, and a copy of your drivers license with your application.
The incumbents are required to pass a work capacity test which consists of a three (3) mile walk, carrying forty-five (45) pounds in less than forty-five (45) minutes.
Seasonal Firefighter positions are located in Carson, Elko, Las Vegas, and Winnemucca. When applying for this recruitment, you will be asked to answer a question that indicates your willingness to accept employment for any or all of these areas above.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education, completion of certifications as required by the agency, and one year of firefighting experience; OR one year of experience as a Seasonal Firefighter II in Nevada State service. |

A current Nevada Class B Drivers License is required at time of appointment. |

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, all positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this class must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. |

Specialized certifications, training and/or experience are required and will be identified at the time of recruitment. |
|
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

Applicants may be required to pass a medical examination and physical agility test prior to appointment and for continuing employment. |

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
