The Position
Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in the Division of Local Government Services in the Department of Taxation in Carson City. The incumbent develops and manages audit programs including Net Proceeds of Minerals audits as well as performance audits of county officials, including assessment practices as well as developing standards and proposed regulatory change when needed. This position will provide guidance and direction to county recorders on matters relating to the collection of the real property transfer tax. The incumbent will help determine relevant facts in particular audits and determine which regulations and statutes apply and defend audit findings if necessary to any stakeholder. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which included 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing and 6 college credits in intermediate accounting and/or auditing, and four years of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR graduation from high school or an equivalent education, supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing and 6 college credits in intermediate accounting and/or auditing, and six years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Audit Supervisor in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as an Auditor III in Nevada State service which includes an additional 3 college credits in intermediate accounting and/or auditing; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above, which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing and 6 college credits in intermediate accounting and/or auditing.

Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

    GAAP accounting experience is required.
The Examination
AUDIT MANAGER (07.139) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. 5) Describe your experience using spreadsheet software.
6) Do you have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a closely related field?
