The Position
Facility Supervisors/Managers plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, custodial work, security functions, and fleet maintenance and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff.
The position is located at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park in Southern Nevada. The incumbent works under the general direction of the Park Supervisor and supervises the Park Maintenance Specialists within the park. The incumbent will occasionally work at other parks for emergency and/or specific projects. This will require occasional travel throughout the region as needed. The incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating and completing projects, such as but not limited to, electrical, carpentry, welding, water, telemetry systems and plumbing. Position plans and constructs new facilities, operates heavy equipment, maintains records, submits invoices and maintains certificates, inspects work completed by contractors, and provides information regarding facility needs. The incumbent assists with budget preparation, monitoring, and acts as a field project supervisor as needed.
This position requires knowledge of ICC, NEC, UPC, OSHA, USEPA, SNWA, NDEP, and AWWA regulations, procedures and standards, various proprietary telemetry systems, computerized maintenance programs, national, state and local building and fire codes; standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades. The incumbent must have the ability to read and interpret plans, electrical schematics and specifications. The position is expected to plan projects, estimate materials, layout materials, estimate time frames, and maintain project schedule to completion. Must be able to operate various testing equipment; provide monthly safety training to maintenance personnel, safely perform skilled work such as but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, welding, and HVAC. A Water Distribution Operator II certification issued by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection is recommended after obtaining the Water Distribution Operator I certification. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience which must have included project planning, preparation of cost estimates and budgets, scheduling and project management. Two years of the experience must have included supervision of skilled and semi-skilled workers; OR one year of experience as a Facility Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions at the Nevada Division of State Parks may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
    For Facility Manager, Supervisor II, and III, completion of Facility Operator Certification for Utility Systems (FOCUS) or a comparable instructional program in facility maintenance may be substituted for one year of non-supervisory experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Incumbents are required to obtain an OSHA 30 certification within 12 months of appointment to the position.
    A Water Distribution Operator I certification issued by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection is required within 12 months of the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Some positions are subject to call-out or call-back.
    Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
The Examination

FACILITY SUPERVISOR 3 (09.606) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
1) Describe your experience, including the number of years, supervising one or more skilled workers in the following trades (indicate number of subordinates in each trade): 1) Carpentry, 2) Electrical, 3) Electronics, 4) Plumbing, 5) HVAC, 6) Commercial refrigeration, 7) Boilers.
2) Describe your experience preparing and administering a maintenance budget for a large facility (i.e., hospital, casino, manufacturing facility or large office complex/high rise). Specify type of facility and amount of budget and describe the extent of your involvement in the process.
3) As a construction project superintendent or maintenance supervisor for a large facility, describe your experience, including the number of years, preparing cost estimates and purchasing supplies for construction or maintenance activities.
4) As a construction project superintendent or maintenance supervisor for a large facility, describe your experience, including the number of years, inspecting work performed by contractors for adherence to plans and specifications.
5) As a construction project superintendent or maintenance supervisor for a large facility, describe your experience, including the number of years, preparing written plans and specifications for construction or building projects.
6) As a construction project superintendent or maintenance supervisor for a large facility, describe your experience, including the number of years, interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings of 1) structural components, 2) plumbing components, 3) electrical components, 4) electronic components and 5) HVAC equipment.
7) Describe your experience, including the number of years, coordinating with: a) State and local public works or building code agencies, b) Fire prevention personnel, c) OSHA, d) Public health agencies, e) Environmental protection agencies, and f) Utilities and other local services.
