The Position
Welders plan and lay out projects and join metal components together using gas welding, arc welding, soldering and brazing processes to fabricate, strengthen and/or repair components, equipment and fixtures.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located in Lovelock, NV. We are located approximately 100 miles east of Reno, NV. The Welder 2 is responsible for all welding projects pertaining to the facilities of Lovelock Correctional Center, Humboldt Camp, and Carlin Camp. The selected candidate must be able to read and work with blueprints, fabricate if necessary, and work with various welders. The incumbent will be responsible for the supervision of inmate workers.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of an approved welding apprenticeship training program followed by one year of journey level welding experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Welding certification issued by the American Welding Society (AWS) is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
