The Position
Family Services Supervisors plan, organize, and direct day-to-day activities of an assigned unit comprised of Family Services Specialists.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise, evaluate the performance of assigned staff, assign and review work, and initiate disciplinary action; and/or oversee a division program or specialized team. The Family Services Supervisor 2 Workforce Development and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) incumbent develops community partnerships and procedures; to accomplish goals and objectives within the scope of the agency's Workforce Development initiatives. We help low-income people along the road to self-sufficiency with health coverage, job preparation, childcare and other support. As part of this team you will supervise Workforce Development projects, monitor budgets, evaluate partner plans, coordinate with various community partners, while adhering to state plans. Ensure implementation and compliance with all applicable policy and procedures; act as a resource and subject matter expert for WIOA programs and DWSS involvement; compile and provide required reports; ensure coordination with all applicable programs and partners, including Workforce Development partners while enforcing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to ensure successful outcomes; and serve as a liaison with community partners, sister agencies and others.
You may also supervise, assign, evaluate, review work, and initiate disciplinary action of any assigned staff which may include subordinate supervisory staff. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of journey level experience performing social services case processing duties which included application of rules and regulations, conducting personal interviews with applicants for the purpose of exchanging information, documenting facts pertinent to program requirements, and researching financial circumstances and determining eligibility for multiple social services programs, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR one year of experience as a Family Services Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with Workforce Development and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs and partners is required.
The Examination
FAMILY SERVICES SUPERVISOR II
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

1) Describe your experience, including number of years, as a Family Services Specialist in the capacity of Lead Worker.
2) Describe your experience, including the number of years, with full supervisory responsibility for a staff of Family Services Specialists.
3) Describe your experience interpreting and applying complex rules, regulations, and program policies in a public assistance/welfare & supportive services related program, including the number of years in each program area.
4) Describe your experience, including number of years, interpreting and applying complex government rules, regulations and policies outside of a public assistance/welfare supportive services program.
5) Describe your experience developing statistical reports using a spreadsheet program.
6) Describe your experience developing and presenting formal or group training classes.
7) List any college degrees you possess. In order to receive credit, you must attach transcripts to your application. They do not need to be official copies.
