Personnel Officer's plan, organize and administer personnel services such as employee relations, selection, training and payroll in an assigned agency.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) engages clients, staff, and the community to provide public assistance benefits to all who qualify and reasonable support for children with absentee parents to help Nevadans achieve safe, stable, and healthy lives. The DWSS Human Resources Office is looking for a Human Resources professional that is a self-starter, knowledgeable, motivated and enjoys working in a fast-paced Social Services Agency. The incumbent will be part of a 14-person team that provides professional and customer-oriented human resources services to over 2000 employees. The selected candidate will supervise the Las Vegas Human Resources Office providing supervision and directing the work activities of professional and/or technical staff delivering comprehensive HR services; work closely with and report to the HR/Personnel Officer II; communicate with agency employees, supervisors and managers, offering viable solutions to complex HR issues. This position will be tasked with the ongoing development of the Divisions' succession planning Pathways to Possibilities program which will involve working with a core team of agency program staff in developing the infrastructure of the program, and continuing administration which is critical to the Division. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related area and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
