The Position
Right-of-Way Agents appraise, acquire, relocate, clear, and manage real property for the State and, as requested, its political subdivisions.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located within the Right of Way Division, Las Vegas. Under general direction incumbents train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of lower level Right-of-Way Agents and other personnel activities as assigned; assign and review projects; ensure work is performed according to established standards of accuracy, ensure timeliness and accurate record keeping of project progress; and provide technical expertise and guidance regarding sensitive issues and problems. Duties also include requesting allocation of funds for relocations, managing expenditures for supplies, equipment, and requests/recommends funding for training; performing project management activities, and provide guidance to local public agencies. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, real estate, mathematics or related field and four years of progressively responsible professional experience in right-of-way operations directly applicable to the position being filled; OR four years of experience as a Right-of-Way Agent II and/or two years as a Right-of-Way Agent III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Additional Position Experience
    Experience with inspection, construction, or project management directly related to the utility industry is required.

The Examination
Right-of-Way Supervisor
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

1) Describe your experience, including the number of years, in project management, utility construction and/or utility inspection, negotiating utility relocation, negotiating agreements with utility companies and/or railroads.

3) Describe your experience, including the number of years, in the management of utility relocation activities from initial discovery to project completion.
4) Describe your experience, including the number of years, in a full supervisory capacity, including the number of people supervised.
