The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 1 position located in Ely, NV. The Administrative Assistant 1 plays a key role in the delivery of outstanding professional customer service to the entire staff of DWSS, customers and community partners. The incumbent is responsible for a wide range of general administrative support functions including but not limited to word processing, general filing and records maintenance, compiling data for reports, scheduling appointments and/or meetings, and answering/screening/directing telephone calls. The successful candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude who enjoys a variety of different tasks with changing priorities. The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following desired strengths: ability to comprehend, interpret, apply, and explain regulations, rules, and instructions; ability to make arithmetic computations using fractions, decimals, and percentages; strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple and competing tasks and productively manage time; ability to work efficiently under pressure and produce quality work when there are numerous interruptions throughout the day; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others, work independently as well as part of a team, and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and proficient in using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) with the ability to create and maintain word documents and excel spreadsheets.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
