The Position
Electronic Technician's perform work requiring the application of electronic principles and practices involving the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair, programming and modification of a variety of electronic and computerized equipment.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. OR Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the Nevada Department of Transportation's Traffic Information Division, in Carson City. Incumbent will supervise an Electronic Technician II, and oversee the repair and maintenance of all traffic data collection, and communication devices; oversee the Statewide installation, maintenance, and calibration of Automatic Traffic Recorder (ATR), Automatic Vehicle Classifier (AVC), and Weight-In-Motion (WIM) sites. This position will also be responsible for tracking all machine failures; managing the battery testing and replacement program, and managing the Traffic Information Field Ops Section assets and inventory. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Associate's degree in electronics or closely related field from an accredited college or technical school and three years of related experience performing electronic technician work involving the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair and modification of a variety of electrical and computerized equipment; OR one year as an Electronics Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    This position requires the ability to lift 40 pounds overhead.
