The Position
Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Rural Clinics is looking for a Psychiatric Caseworker 1 to underfill a Psychiatric Caseworker 2. Psychiatric Caseworkers perform casework duties; monitor progress of clients in treatment; assess and reassess clients' level of functioning; perform assessment and periodic reassessment of individual needs to determine need for any medical, educational, social or other services; determine the level of assistance needed; and refer clients to appropriate services according to the plan of care in order to meet clients' emotional, behavioral, social, financial, health, vocational, transportation, and basic living needs. Rural Clinics is comprised of 16 outpatient behavioral health clinics located throughout rural Nevada. We provide a continuum of rehabilitative services (e.g., targeted case management, basic skills training, psychosocial rehabilitation, therapy, testing, jail diversion, and children's programs, crisis intervention) to both children and adults.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and one year of experience assisting professionals in providing direct client care and implementing treatment and/or service/care coordination plans for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
