The Position
Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located within the Traffic Operations Division in Carson City. The incumbent will engage in a broad range of professional and technical activities such as planning, coordination, design, installation, implementation, operations, analysis, maintenance and management of multiple systems to include the Nevada Shared Radio System (NSRS) and telecommunications infrastructure sharing program. This position will monitor and enforce all federal laws, state laws, regulations and follows departmental procedures for compliance relating to the NSRS and telecommunications infrastructure sharing policy. The incumbent will support the Traffic Operations division with other duties, special projects, and new programs required. Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, or applications analysis and development. Two years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    This position may require working weekends and/or holidays.
    This position is required to travel up to 50% of the time
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

    Experience planning, organizing and coordinating maintenance and upgrade actives for telecommunications equipment such as Land Mobile Radio (LMR), microwave, fiber optic, and/or wire communications system is required.
