Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking a Social Services Program Specialist 2 (SSPS2) to be located in Carson City or Las Vegas. The purpose of this position is to provide statewide continuous quality assurance and improvement as it relates to child welfare abuse and neglect cases. This is an important position ensuring foundational knowledge in child abuse and neglect as it relates to the safety, permanency and well-being of children. The position will conduct reviews of professional social workers or case managers who have been trained in child welfare practice. This position requires experience in child welfare as it relates to child abuse and neglect. Knowledge of federal and state laws as it relates to child abuse and neglect is desirable. The work responsibilities include statewide Continuous Quality Assurance/Improvement activities related to child abuse and neglect in welfare services cases, Statewide Policy development, Technical Assistance, Planning, Evaluation, Report Writing, and Collaboration with Child Welfare Agencies, and external Stakeholders. The ability to collect, monitor and analyze child welfare data and the ability to write evaluative continuous quality assurance reports is desirable. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.
