The Position
Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This position is for a Clinical Social Worker I underfill for Clinical Social Worker II for Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) in Sparks, Nevada. Designated shift is Monday through Friday, but incumbents may share the responsibility of covering weekends and holidays. Incumbents require a working knowledge of theories and principles of individual and group psychotherapy; symptoms, characteristics and treatment of mental illness, substance abuse, emotional and behavioral disorders; crisis intervention techniques; case management practices and procedures; psycho-diagnostic techniques; laws governing abuse and neglect. Incumbents must have the ability to assess, develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals; write comprehensive evaluations, reports and recommendations; conduct risk assessments, and demonstrate competency within the civil court process. Incumbents will actively participate on an interdisciplinary treatment team; coordinate community services for patients while assuming the ultimate responsibility of discharge planning. Incumbents will demonstrate strong writing skills, be an effective communicator, exercise the highest of ethical standards, practice effective time management, and demonstrate multi-tasking capability and flexibility. With emphasis on the recovery model, patient care is delivered through an interdisciplinary team approach with teamwork being a must.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work and an internship approved by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
