The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This grant funded position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Elder/Adult Protective Services in Reno, Nevada. Current grant funding is effective through June 30, 2019, and is anticipated to be renewed on a yearly basis and would be entitled to layoff rights. This position will be responsible for receiving incoming calls, emails, and faxes regarding reports of elder abandonment, abuse, neglect, exploitation isolation, and abandonment for individuals age sixty (60) and older and individuals 19-59 years of age with intellectual, development, and physical disabilities and directing them to the appropriate staff. The incumbent will provide information and referral services to callers in need of other services, retrieve voicemails, route messages appropriately and/or make return phone calls for further information as directed by the Social Work Supervisor 2; and assist in the completion of various client record requests, emergency fund requests, and service requests as needed.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
