The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services is recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Worker 3. Under the direction of the Grounds Supervisor 1, the Grounds Maintenance Worker 3 duties include mowing burial sections; edging around grave markers and curbing and sidewalks; trimming trees and shrubs; spraying fertilizers and weed control chemicals; keeping all gravel areas clear of weeds and debris; and emptying trash receptacles and ash trays. Additional duties include assisting with replacing and repairing irrigation lines, valves, rotors, pop-ups, diaphragms, drip systems and bubblers, adjusting heads, and maintaining valves and heads clear of debris and other related duties as assigned. This position is located in Boulder City at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools, equipment and techniques; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
