The Position
Developmental Support Technicians supplement the work of qualified intellectual disabilities professionals and other professional staff in providing direct client care and support including participation in the formulation and implementation of treatment plans for clients.
This recruitment is for Developmental Support Technician I vacancies working either a swing shift or working the graveyard shift within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Desert Regional Center, and is located in Las Vegas, NV. Under the direction of a Developmental Support Technician IV, incumbents perform in a trainee capacity to acquire the knowledge, skills and ability required in this occupation. Work is closely reviewed and monitored and extensive on-the-job training is provided to ensure standards of care are met. Incumbent must obtain and maintain technician certification, CPR and a valid State of Nevada Driver's License. Incumbent will provide direct care to dual diagnosed individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and related conditions; such as, Autism, Seizure Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, etc. in a 24-hour residential facility. Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred. Incumbent will be required to work a swing shift or graveyard, weekends, and holidays.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience involving public contact and which may have included providing care or guidance for children, elders or others; volunteer work in providing respite to caregivers; or leading youth groups; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    First aid certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and be free of active tuberculosis.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
