The Position
Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
Under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, incumbents perform the duties described in the series concept in a trainee capacity. Incumbents may be automatically progressed to Licensed Psychologist 1 upon receipt of licensure as a psychologist in the State of Nevada. Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is currently recruiting Psychological Assistant positions. Under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, incumbents perform the duties described in the series concept in a trainee capacity. Incumbents may be automatically progressed to Licensed Psychologist upon receipt of licensure as a psychologist in the State of Nevada. Psychological Assistants at SNAMHS provide psychological testing, evaluation, counseling, developing behavioral intervention strategies, consultation, and group and individual psychotherapy in inpatient and outpatient settings. Incumbents will provide crisis intervention, help develop safety plan recommendations for patients, and conduct patient interviews. Psychological Assistants may provide clinical supervision for trainees and serve on committees for SNAMHS. Psychological Assistants may have involvement in assisting with training doctoral interns who are placed at SNAMHS through the Nevada Psychology Internship Consortium (NV-PIC). Positions are anticipated to be assigned to Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital or Stein Forensic Hospital. This is a full-time position with anticipated work schedule of 8a-5p Mon-Fri, with Sat/Sun off. Incumbent will work an innovative variable schedule and is exempt from overtime pay. As condition for continued employment, the incumbent must complete and maintain all position and agency required trainings and certifications.
Employment with the State meets eligibility requirements to apply for the federal student loan forgiveness program after 10 years of employment and payments on loans. SNAMHS' mission is to protect, promote and improve the physical and behavioral health of the people of Nevada. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    An active doctoral psychology internship agreement and/or a certificate of successful completion of a doctoral psychology internship program is required at the time of application.
Special Notes
    Applicants for the Psychological Assistant must attach either their active doctoral psychology internship agreement, certificate of successful completion of their doctoral psychology internship program, or verification of their Doctorate in Psychology degree to their application in order to be considered eligible.
    Psychological Assistant's must have a Doctorate in Psychology and approval as a Registered Psychological Assistant by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment.
Special Requirements
    Psychological Assistants must be approved as a Registered Psychological Assistant by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and must remain in good standing with the Board as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A valid Nevada driver's license or equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
