The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Information Technology (IT) in Sparks, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. The Application Support Lead worker is responsible for daily application support activities and providing oversight of the team's workload. The incumbent must be detail-oriented with strong communication and technical support skills. Additional duties include: Respond to telephone and electronic support requests; answer questions on app functionality; user training; ensure backups and other maintenance tasks are implemented; troubleshoot systems; testing of patches/updates; change management; document issues, bugs and enhancement requests; identify opportunities to improve systems and processes; coordinate implementation of appropriate solutions that meet agency needs. Incumbent will work closely with internal and external agencies and departments to coordinate related activities. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
