Retail Storekeepers perform merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail store or e-Commerce environment which includes canteen stores and coffee shops in correctional facilities and other State retail operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position is located at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.
The Retail Storekeeper 3 (RSK 3) works under general supervision of the RSK 4 and consults with them on a regular basis. The positions serves as the leads of the store; work and facilitate the day to day operations and store coverage; ensure all inmate orders are inputted through the Scantron or Inmate Kiosk system; ensures inmate pick up lists are printed and reconciled daily; and are responsible for developing and implementing sound stock control and merchandising to maximize sales and profit margins and prepare month end reports. The RSK 3 ensures inventory and sales reports are monitored to ensure turnover rate profit margins meet the expectations of the division; maintains store security such as supervising inmate workers, examining all trash before discarding or leaving the store, ensuring all tools are locked up and accounted for; processing inmate payroll monthly; and acts as the liaison between institutional staff and Stores Administration. RSK 3's are required to respond to requests for inmate inquiries; responsible for training inmate workers and free staff to ensure they understand the duties assigned to them and security policy and procedures; and assist the Store Supervisor in preparing employee evaluations. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school and three years of increasingly responsible storekeeping and retail experience which included responsibility for merchandising, stock control, perpetual inventory, contacts with vendors, and coordinating the work of others; OR one year of experience as a Retail Storekeeper II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

RETAIL STOREKEEPER 3 (07.819) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
