JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Public Information Officers manage the public relations and information program for an agency on a statewide basis; write media releases, newsletters, and informational brochures; produce audiovisual presentations and take photographs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Department of Administration is seeking an ambitious and talented Public Information Officer 1, underfilling the Public Information Officer 2, to join our team located in Carson City, NV. This position manages all public relations and public information programs for the Department of Administration, representing a diversity of programs. This includes both media relations and production of communications for State employees, including copy editing, newsletters, website, social media, and multimedia. The position represents the Department at many public functions and meetings, which may include public speaking. The ideal candidate would have experience with both media relations and government relations for a public entity, managing communications and content production contracts, and events organization and planning. Experience in production of multimedia content is a plus. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications or closely related field and two years of professional experience in public relations or public information including writing media releases and newsletters, preparing speeches and multimedia presentations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
This position may require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
25% travel requirement.
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
